Notes
The Castello Cinquecentesco is a sixteenth-century castle at the foot of the promontory on which Villa Durazzo stands. It was built in 1550 by the Doge of Genoa as a lookout and defence against pirates. Directly overlooking the sea as befits its original function, it is a small rectangular castle with a tower in the southwest corner, where the entrance to the Castle is. Restored in 2000, it is now used as an event space for art exhibitions, markets, cocktail parties, small receptions and civil weddings.
